TrakLok innovation offers secure and visible tracking of shipments across US-Mexico border

Knoxville, TN—TrakLokTM Corporation (TrakLok) successfully completed its first international test of its GeoLokTM locking and tracking solution for shipping containers. Along with Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCS), Kansas City SmartPort, Inc., and EDS Systems, Inc., TrakLok Corporation successfully tracked a shipment containing Samsung electronics from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Charlotte, North Carolina. The shipment crossed the US-Mexican border at Laredo, Texas. The GeoLokTM system transmitted the position and condition of the container continuously throughout the entire transit, even in areas of no cellular coverage. Stakeholders were also successfully able to view the information through TrakLok Corporation’s web portal, TrakLogTM.
By employing the TrakLok solution, KCS will address the issue of increasing cargo theft in Mexico.  “We are thrilled to be working with a visionary company like KCS” said TrakLok’s CEO, Eric Dobson.  
According to a report from Latin Business Chronicle, cargo theft in Mexico “has taken on new and more sophisticated patterns” as the “nexus between organized crime and the drug trade continues to expand.” With this increased theft comes increased cost.
According to the Mexican Association of Insurance Companies, insurance premiums increased by almost $1 million last year for policies covering material damages and cargo theft. The introduction of TrakLok’s security and visibility solution stands to significantly reduce this risk.
TrakLok Corporation is commercializing a combined container locking and tracking solution. With the GeoLokTM, only an authorized person at the right time and place can access the contents of the container.  This solution provides real-time information about the condition and location of high valuable cargo and provides a means of securing entry to the container in order to reduce losses and enables better utilization decisions. The GeoLokTM solution provides physical security and container/cargo tracking throughout the entire supply chain with road, rail, and marine segments all interacting fluidly throughout the full life-cycle of a container shipment.

It also can give information on the condition of the shipment itself by communicating with sensors that detect temperature, humidity, light, even spoilage.
TrakLok has integrated physical security technologies with several wireless technologies to track containers globally, and has developed a web accessible information-technology based global tracking system. The information provided by the GeoLokTM is accessible through TrakLogTM where users can obtain the location and condition information of a given container from any computer or web enabled device. Cash for Clunkers: Honda is Ready in Miami

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 08, 2009 – With one of the most fuel-efficient vehicle lineups in the industry, nearly every new Honda model will help customers qualify for a federal "Cash for Clunkers" credit, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. Depending on the trade-in vehicle, customers will be able to choose one or more of Honda's diverse model line including the Ridgeline pickup, its most-rugged vehicle; the Accord, Honda's best-selling U.S. model; and the all-new Insight, the most-affordable hybrid in the United States.
"You don't really need a complicated chart to find a qualifying vehicle at a Honda dealer," said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "We hope that this program will help consumers make the move into vehicles that are easier on both their wallets and the environment."
The federal Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act of 2009 was enacted on June 24 of this year. More commonly referred to as "Cash for Clunkers," this program is designed to stimulate vehicle sales and reduce overall fuel use by providing up to a $4,500 credit to consumers who trade in their current eligible vehicle for one that achieves greater fuel economy.
The only vehicles in the Honda lineup that will not qualify for a credit are the limited-production S2000 roadster, the Accord V6 Coupe with manual transmission and the FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle (the latter is excluded by the program's five year lease requirement). Honda cars that have a combined EPA fuel-economy rating of 22 MPG or more and may be eligible for payments under this program include:
   * 2009 Fit - All models

   * 2010 Insight - All models

   * 2009 Civic - All models

   * 2009 Accord - All models except V6 Coupe with manual transmission
Honda category 1 trucks that have a combined EPA fuel-economy rating of 18 MPG or more and may be eligible for a credit under this program include:
   * 2009 CR-V - All models

   * 2009 Element - All models

   * 2009 - 2010 Pilot - All models including 2WD and 4WD

   * 2009 - 2010 Odyssey - All models
Honda category 2 trucks that have a combined EPA fuel-economy rating of 15 MPG or more and may be eligible for a credit under this program include:

NHTSA has not yet adopted rules for the CARS program, but is expected to do so by July 23, 2009. Trucking Advocate Launches Petition to Stop False DAC Reporting

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 02, 2009 – Aubrey "Allen" Smith, founder of Truth About Trucking, LLC , the trucking blog, askthetrucker.com and host of Blog Talk Radio's: Truth About Trucking "LIVE", is preparing to submit a letter of proposal to Congress requesting an investigation into the practices of the DAC Reporting Services, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  
The DAC Report has long been an avenue in which many trucking companies utilize in order to falsely accuse a driver for incidents or acts that never occurred.  Countless professional drivers have experienced their careers ruined by the abusive system.
The DAC reporting services of the USIS is regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) which is an American Federal law codified at 15 U.S.C. § 1681 that regulates the collection, dissemination, and use of consumer credit information, and aong with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), it forms the base of consumer credit rights in the United States.
Trucking companies knowingly and willfully submit false reports to the DAC Services against professional truck drivers for the sole purpose of ruining their careers. Furthermore, DAC will approve these false claims without any investigation or attempt in allowing the driver to respond. Although the driver can follow DAC's procedures for dispute, the ability to have the false accusations removed from their DAC report seldom occurs.
Truth About Trucking, LLC will soon submit a letter to the appropriate Senators and Congress members in order to bring this issue to the attention of  legislators. They are asking for signatures to show support for this much needed legislation and to help STOP false DAC reporting against the nation's professional drivers.
